| Welcome to your exchange group this year!!!
As a group you can decide on a theme or choose to be surprised. It's totally up to you guys!! I always ask each group member to say HI and share 1 fun or interesting thing that they did this year. It's a great way to break the ice and get folks chatting.

| Hi,
My name is Katie and I currently live in Kapolei, HI located on the island of Oahu. I live here because the Army told me too. The weather is pretty much 70-80 all year but I do miss bundling up in a sweater for the winter. Fun interesting thing about me this year.... hmmm. Well I am expecting our first child this March and my hubby and I are pretty excited welcoming a little boy into our lives. And I just started getting back into my art work- drawing, photography and crafts.

| Hi everyone! This is my first year at the exchange and I'm looking forward to making some ornaments. I just had a baby recently so I've been spending a lot of my time tending to the children. It'll be nice to get the holiday season started with some crafting time. I like to work in felt, but I'm open to any suggestions if any of you have a preference for a type of ornaments. Glad to meet all of you! | |

| Hi! My name is Kathi and my daughter goes to school with Cindy Ann's daughter. I am using this as an excuse to get back into crafting/artsy stuff after a bit of a break.
I have an idea for my ornaments but we shall see how it turns out in reality. It has been awhile since I have picked up a paint brush, so this will be one big experiment! I am looking forward to getting started!
Katie - Hawaii! How exciting. Did you happen to run into Missy and Jonathan Odom? They are good friends of mine also stationed on Maui. And how exciting you are expecting!
Amanda - So impressed you are doing this with an infant! My kids are 6 and 3 and I am just now getting my craft back.
Happy Holidays! | |

| Hey ladies, I think I'm more the "odd man" out in our little group, but I'm still glad to be a part! I'm Jim from Cary, North Carolina. I've been in the area for over 20 years now working in the Research Triangle Park as a software engineer. I've been single for most of my time here, but I've grown into a great group of friends that really makes me feel like I'm quite settled. I do have a cat, Oscar, that can be a handful at times, but overall, my life outside of work is fairly calm. Inside of work can be a different story, working nights and weekends sometimes. I thought this ornament exchange would be a great motivation to do something outside of my normal routine and to build some skills in one of my newer hobbies, sewing. I've already nearly completed one prototype ornament and I think that I'll have something that will not only build my skills but will also be something I'll be proud to send you. I'm really interested to see the different kinds of things that we each do, and it will be great to talk with each of you as we go forward. Katie, congrats on your upcoming arrival! And great to meet all of you. | |

| So glad to hear from everybody!
Jim - Can't wait to see what you'll send! I've asked for a sewing machine for Christmas, so we'll see if Santa brings it. Last year a made a shirt! It was about 3 inches too short, but a great challenge. I have dreams of sewing clothes for my children...haha! They'll probably walk around in high waters. My brother is a software engineer as well so I know how demanding that position can be at times. Good for you trying to do something creative away from the computer. I'm a graphic designer and I try to get away from the screen as often as I can.
Kathi - I know exactly what you mean when it comes to juggling life/work/art. I have a 5 yr old and a 7 month old. I work on my projects at night when they go to bed. Not much time for cleaning or sleeping, so I'm exhausted and my house is a mess. At least I'm doing something I love to do.
Katie (in response to your reply below) - Lol! No waves on Thanksgiving! I went to Miami once during the Christmas season and sat on the beach for awhile. Very weird. I thought it was so funny to see lighted snowmen in front yards.
Quote from Katie - "It just doesn't feel like Christmas. Christmast decorations are pretty and yes sometimes it is all Mele Kalikimaka! A few of my co-workers were complaining that there were no waves on Thanksgiving. And some people go to the beach and have a cook out for Thanksgiving and Christmas"
Sounds like you guys aren't a picky bunch, so I'll just get right to crafting some ornaments! Merry Christmas!

| Welcome Jim! I went to Duke and know the RTP area well. But the real question is if you are a Carolina fan? | |

| Welcome Jim and Kathi!
Looking forward to seeing what you all are making. I kind of got a head start on making ornaments. Mainly because I live in Hawaii and mail takes a few days longer plus I only really have time to craft on the weekends.
Jim- I lived in Fayetteville, NC for about 3 years at the beginning of my military career. I used to go up to Raleigh area often on the weekends to get out of town.
Amanda- I'm thinking of starting sewing again. Found a good deal on a Singer during black Friday so crossing my fingers that I open the box by next weekend and start sewing!
Kathi- Right there with you getting back in touch of my artsy side!

| So Ladies and Gent I think I am almost done with the ornaments. I will be finishing them up this weekend. I've been trying to add some Hawaiian flair to the ornaments. Hope that you like them! | |

| Just received the third ornament today! Thank you all very much for sending those out and letting me be a part of our little group. I really like the creativity that we all showed, and I like that I have 3 unique ornaments that I wouldn't otherwise have on my tree. I hope you all have a very happy holiday and hope to see you again at next year's exchange! | |
